For instructors
Summa is a study room for each course, where students ask each other questions, share their own notes and practise with quizzes written from those notes. It's an independent student project. It isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or run for any school, and it isn't meant for official course use.
What students may post
Students may share only notes and review guides they wrote themselves, or material they have permission to share. The Terms of Service and Community Guidelines forbid exam and quiz questions (current or past), graded homework and its solutions, test banks, and course materials such as your slides, handouts or recordings without your permission. Uploads that look like an exam, quiz or homework are refused automatically, but that check can't catch everything.
Report course materials or exam content
If you find your materials, or anything from an exam, quiz or assignment, on Summa, email summacapybara@gmail.com with the subject “Course materials”. Tell us the course code and describe the material (for example “midterm 2 questions” or “my week 5 slides”). Rooms are visible only to signed-in people at your school, so you don't need a link; we'll find it.
- We aim to take reported material down within 2 business days, and usually sooner.
- When we take notes down, the quiz questions written from them are taken out of every round, score and result too.
- A student whose posts are removed for copyright or course materials twice loses their account (see the Copyright Policy).
- If you'd rather send a formal copyright notice, the Copyright Policy explains how.
Please don't use Summa for your course
Summa isn't designed for instructors. Please don't require students to use it, grade with it, or post anything about students in it, such as grades, rosters or graded work. We don't share students' activity with schools, and what students do on Summa isn't part of their school record.
